September – mid-October 2026
Water lilies in late bloom, lighter crowds after the French school return, soft light for photos, same fares as June. Our recommendation for first-time visitors.
High season
May – August 2026
Highest demand. Weekday departures recommended. Saturdays book out 3–4 weeks in advance. Garden opens at 09:30 — arrive before 10:30 to beat the bus tours.
Bank holiday risk

Day-trip demand peaks on these dates. Book at least 4 weeks ahead and expect Paris-side traffic delays on the A13 westbound.

Monet's Foundation is closed. We pivot to Vernon, Rouen, Honfleur, Étretat day trips and airport transfers. Same fare structure.
Ideal day-trip timeline
Earliest sensible pickup from Paris
Door pickup in central Paris. Avoids the 08:00–09:30 A13 westbound spike.
Arrival in Giverny village
Park, walk to the entrance. 10–15 minutes before gardens open at 09:30.
Gardens open
Tour-bus groups arrive 10:30–11:30. The first 60 minutes are noticeably quieter.
Lunch break window
Best window before the village fills. Recommended: La Capucine, Hôtel Baudy.
Optional Musée des Impressionnismes
5-minute walk from the gardens. Booked separately.
Return pickup
Arrival in central Paris around 17:45–18:15, before evening rush.
Real bottlenecks
A13 westbound spikes
Friday 16:00–19:00 outbound to Normandy is heavily congested. We re-route via A14 + A13 from La Défense when needed; no extra cost on a fixed fare.
Garden ticket window
Buy online in advance — on-site queues regularly exceed 30 minutes in July/August. Your driver provides a recommended morning slot in your confirmation email.
Cruise stops at Le Havre / Rouen
Ship-side time pressure is the biggest risk. We pad 90 min on the return leg and confirm departure-time-minus-3h as latest pickup at the gardens.
Beauvais night arrivals
Last public transport leaves Beauvais by 22:00. Private driver is the only realistic option for arrivals after 21:30 — we operate this corridor flat-rate, all night.
Plan around the bottlenecks, not the crowds
Crowds at the gardens are mostly an early-morning problem. The harder constraints are A13 traffic, ticket entry queues, and cruise-stop departure windows. A private driver removes the first two and pads the third.
